NORSI Research School Conference 2018

The 2018 NORSI Research School Conference held 11-12 January at BI Norwegian Business School showcased the interdisciplinary and high quality research currently being conducted by the students within innovation studies that are part of NORSI.

NORSI is in its sixth year and the annual conference has become an important meeting place for the NORSI research community. Over 60 people participated, including NORSI students, faculty, board members and agency personnel as well as others who are interested in the emerging research within the innovation field. 22 NORSI students presented and received well prepared feed-back from senior and junior discussants.

 Format

The aim is to provide a comfortable and open environment for students to presents their research in progress, findings so far, and to receive feedback and support from peers. There will also be open round table discussions about a choosen topic. This is intended to be a platform for all students and not just those whom are near completion. Taking part in the conference is seen as an important part of the research education for students that are part of NORSI. The conference is open for anyone but only NORSI PhD students may present.

NORSI students who opt to not present are encouraged to attend. NORSI students attending will be asked to be junior opponents. Even if you do not present, we might ask you to be a junior discussant on a paper.

Abstract word limit: 200- 300 words
Full paper and feed-back info:
Each presentation will receive prepared feed-back from both a senior and junior opponent. Each student will be given 30 min.; 15 min. presentation and 15 min for feed-back/questions. The paper to be submitted before the conference does not have to be a complete work, and can be in progress. Max. length should be about 8000 words, however shorter papers in draft versions are also acceptable.

Key Note

NORSI is happy to announce that Professor Rainer Kattel will give the key note lecture titled “Dynamic Capabilities in the Public Sector.” He is the Deputy Director at the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose. Rainer is professor of innovation and public governance at IIPP, and research professor at Ragnar Nurkse School of Innovation and Governance, Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia. He has studied at the University of Tartu, Estonia, and University of Marburg, Germany, in philosophy, political philosophy, classics and public administration. Professor Rainer Kattel led Ragnar Nurkse School of Innovation and Governance for 10 years, building it into one of the leading innovation and governance schools in the region.

Program

The conference will start at noon on Thursday, 11 January and end in the afternoon on Friday, 12 January 2018 (no later than 15:00). A draft schedule of presenters will been posted on this page after 15 December. Please check before the conference as there may be slight unavoidable changes due to absences etc. Please discuss this event with your supervisors to make the most of this opportunity.There will be an tapas-dinner reception after the presentations on Thursday evening.

Travel and accommodation will be covered for all NORSI students, supervisors and representatives. A blook of room has been reserved at Radisson Nydalen hotel. Please reserve your room by sending Birte an email. All travel expences (economy) will be refunded after the conference.
