NORSI Writing Retreat 2018

NORSI organizes a three-day writing retreat in May 2018 (7th-9th). During these days, you will work on your writing skills as well as attend short workshops focusing on «the art of academic writing». Talks and discussion will focus on the following topics:

  • How to structure your writing time, get progress in your writing and overcome writer’s blocks
  • How to write high quality texts and how to avoid the most common language problems  that plague academic texts
  • How to convince your audience (and editors and reviewers in particular)

In addition, approximately 50 percent of the time, you will work on your own writing skills and your own texts (following a structured approach).

The writing seminar will take place a Hurdalsjøen Hotel located approx. 30 min from Gardermoen.
The hotel describe themselves as “a seminar and conference centre with modern facilities and a homely atmosphere.

How to get there?

Taxis from the airport to the hotel: There is unfortunately no trains that goes to Hurdal. For those of you travelling directly from Gardermoen to the hotel on Monday morning – Norsi will book a maxi taxi. Please let Birte know if you need to get a ride from the airport. We will also book a return taxi on Wednesday at 13:30 from the hotel to the airport.

Driving directions:
The hotel is about 25 kilometers north of Oslo Airport Gardermoen. If you are travelling by car from Oslo, follow road E6 north (signs towards Trondheim).

You can take the exit by Gardermoen Airport or continue on E6 until Eidsvoll Verk.

If you take the exit at Gardermoen, follow E16 around the airport and continue north. Take the exit to “riksvei 176” (sign towards Hurdal). After a while you will get onto riksvei 120. Stay on this road and follow the Hurdal lake until you see the sign for Hurdalsjøen Hotell. The distance from the city centre of Oslo is 75 kilometres.

If you choose to stay on E6 (toll road) until the Eidsvoll Verk-exit (exit sign says Hurdal), you follow riksvei 180 towards Hurdal town centre. At the roundabout, go south and follow the Hurdal lake for about 5 kilometres and you will see the signs for the hotel.

If you arrive on the E6 from the north, use the Eidsvoll Verk exit and follow the route described above.
